TERRITORY

Cison di Valmarino, Treviso

CastelbrandoCison di Valmarino is in the north-east of Italy, 100 km from Venice, in the province of Treviso, in the region of Veneto.

The area that surrounds Cison di Valmarino is called Marca Trevigiana and is the heart of Veneto: a beating heart full of activities where thousands of years in history have left indelible traces. Roman roads, churches, castles, fortifications, villas and areas of great environmental interest can be found everywhere in the land which was the home to Giorgione and Canova. The secrets of Marca Trevigiana, its style and identity are in its hillsides, in the rivers that flow through the plain, in the cities reminding of medieval times and in the excellent wine and tasteful food.

Treviso, in the words of Petrarca “the nice contrada”, is the capital of the province and since the pre-historical ages has been a land of economic and social networking. The signs of its long history are still present in the territory and in the monumental centre of the municipality with its XVI century walls.

Approximately 50 km from Treviso, there is the small village called Cison di Valmarino for centuries capital of the area as shown by the Brandolini castle set on a promontory overlooking the valley. The massive manor, today called CastelBrando, is nestled in a wide woods and is part of a medieval hamlet. It has an austere and noble style that reminds of the rare privilege of living at court.
